How to set-up for Online Art Therapy

What is the Process for Online Art Therapy?

  • Before starting Art Therapy, you will need to ensure you have a computer with a camera and audio, as well as access to reliable internet.

  • Firstly, we will have a phone consultation to discuss your NDIS goals and needs/wants, what days and times are available for each of us, and to collect your basic information via an online form.

  • Once we have locked in a day and time, I will email you the Service Agreement which needs to be signed and returned to me prior to your first session.

  • I will then email you an invitation via Microsoft Teams and all you need to do is click on accept and I will automatically receive a confirmation. I will also email you a “how-to” setup and use Teams information sheet (see below) in case you need assistance.

  • In the lead up to your first session I encourage you to collect some basic art supplies from around your house of from a discount store. Nothing elaborate is needed. To start with a basic set of colouring pens and pencils, and a sketch book or plain paper is sufficient.

  • At the allocated day and time of your first session we will both join the teams meeting and I will guide you through your first session based on what we have discussed previously.

  • The first session usually involves us getting to know each other and me exploring more about you and your Art Therapy goals through a person-centered approach.

How do I download Teams?

Go to the Microsoft Teams download page (opens in a new window) by Microsoft. Click Download Teams. Click Save File. Go to your Downloads folder and double-click the downloaded .exe file to open the installer.

How do I use Microsoft Teams for the first time?

1.Open the Teams app.

2.Select Get started.

3.Enter your email address or phone number and select Next.

4.Enter your password or verification code and select Sign in.

How do I accept to join a Microsoft teams meeting?

When Team meetings are scheduled, you will receive an email with a meeting invitation. The meeting will be added to your email calendar once you accept it. To accept a meeting, click Accept, then Send Response Now. You will immediately receive an email from the organizer indicating that you have accepted the meeting.

How do I join a Microsoft Teams meeting for the first time?

Join a Teams meeting from the app

  1. From your Calendar, select Join on a meeting before it's started, or one that's in progress.

  2. Turn on your camera, select Effects and avatars, and choose how you'd like to appear: Select a custom background. Select Blur.

  3. Choose your audio settings.

  4. Select Join now.

What happens if you join a Microsoft Teams meeting early?

You will receive a prompt that says, “when the meeting starts, we will let people know you are waiting in the lobby”.
